March is the month which sees the beginning of Lent. This is the time when we remember how Jesus was led by the Spirit to go into the wilderness and would be tempted by the devil.
Satan had protested that Job was so protected by God it meant it was not a fair test of his righteousness. God allows him to test Job but he is given limits.
Jesus our glorious Saviour and God would also be tested. However Satan is not in charge. The venue of the wilderness is God’s plan not Satan. The 40 days was Gods limit. Satan’s questions are again limited. Jesus overcomes, being confident of who He is and by using scripture. Fleshly desires, the need to impress and the opportunity for avoiding the cross and bowing down to Satan are all firmly rejected.
Jesus returns to Nazareth full of the Spirit.
May God help us to overcome, even as Jesus did, every attempt of Satan to sabotage our lives
